Fulfilling the Great Commission
We have involved ourselves in most every kind of evangelistic method while here in Limavady. We have went door-to-door personally speaking to those who are at home, we have passed out thousands of gospel tracts, leaflets, and John and Romans through the front doors, we have passed out tracts on the streets of Limavady as well as street preach and we have not yet exhausted fulfilling the great commission of our Saviour to preach the Gospel to every creature. In Limavady there is much religion and many churches with a cross on the front door, but the true message of the cross is not preached, and Christ’s great commission to reach the lost is definitely not being fulfilled by these churches.
We also read in Matthew 9:38… "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into the harvest." This is our prayer request to you for us. Pray the Lord will send to us, men and women into the church that will join us in winning their family, friends, as well as the multitudes of Limavady to the Lord before it is eternally to late.
Facing our Godless Culture Jesus was the greatest prophet that ever lived. His prophecies should not go unnoticed to the world, much less the true church. As we look at the surrounding events and the ever changing values and morals of our society we have to recognize that we are living in the days of Noah and in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. Open sin is everywhere over here. Nakedness, legalized sodomy, drunkenness, blatant open blasphemy to the Gospel and Jesus as we witness, a strong lack of any interest in the things of God from the masses… What do we do? We keep on worshiping God and giving Him the glory, we keep on witnessing, preaching, and teaching the truths of God from the Bible, we watch and pray as Christ instructed us in the last days and we encourage the saints of God to stay faithful in these dark hours.
Future of our Growing Church When we established the church in 2004 we had seen over a dozen people saved. The church was packed out many times to capacity, excitement was in the air and we aimed at purchasing our own land and building. Then I went home for a year’s furlough from 2004 to 2005. When I returned I still had the mindset to purchase our own land and building but the growth of the church was at a standstill. We were blessed with seeing four souls saved in the church this year but we have not seen the church packed out with visitors like we used to.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need… This passage is referring to the need of the church. God is supplying all of the need of Roe Valley Baptist Church at this time. We may not own the building we are in, but we have a great place to meet. A few renovations this summer left us with the ability to seat sixty people comfortably. As a mission church we have much to be thankful for concerning our place of worship.
What are my goals for the growth of the church? 1. To fill our seats up with saved people. 2. To see the church capable of supporting itself. 3. To see the Lord raise up a pastor for the church. 4. To see an indigenous Baptist Church planted in Limavady that will carry on the great commission.
There is much to pray for and there is much work to do. We have a God that can hear our prayers and move us in the right directions to get the work done. Praise God!
Thanks for the prayers and support,
Ronnie Smith in Limavady, Northern Ireland.
