March - April 2008

There have been some exciting things that God has brought to pass over the past several weeks. He does all things good and on time. He is a God of patience and longsuffering, and worthy to be praised. If I could choose a Psalm to sing it would be Psalm 46…God is our refuge and very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; God has proven Himself time and time again to be all and more that the psalmist sang about.

Winning the Lost: Sandra Craig, the sister-in-law to one of our faithful church members, asked the Lord to save her after the Sunday morning service on February 3rd of this year. Sandra came to me and told me she was ready to pray and ask the Lord to save her. She has since asked, "Why didn't I do this when I first started coming to church?" When she first started coming she was very faithful to the services. Now that she is born again she continues to be faithful, growing in her salvation, and showing signs of true conversion. I preached on the coming of the Lord a couple weeks after she got saved. She asked me how long have men preached on the return of Jesus. She thought it had only been in the last forty to fifty years. That question led to "message #2" that night. I started with the ascension of Jesus in Acts 1 and the promise of Him returning in like manner all the way through the teachings of Paul and into the book of Revelation. It was a great time of discussion for the whole church. I had mentioned her in my last prayer letter. Thanks for all who prayed. Another soul from Limavady has been saved.

Witnessing in Limavady: We knock on the doors, we have special Gospel meetings, and we do much one-on-one. Still here are multitudes of lost folk in Limavady unconcerned about their eternal life with no desire to come out and hear the Gospel. This doesn't slow us down or make us give up. I like the saying, "We may grow weary in the battle, but we should never grow weary of the battle." I had prepared a message for a Sunday night on the necessity of "Being a Witness in Limavady". Five minutes before church started two visitors walked through the door. It was a man and his son-in-law that I talked to a couple months ago while out knocking on doors. He said he told me he would come out and visit us one night, and he did. It took a couple months, but he came. Before the service started I asked the man if he minded that I used him for an illustration. He told me to go ahead. I preached my message about the necessity of being a witness in Limavady. When I came to the area of door-to-door, God prepared a wonderful object lesson through our visitor for our people to see. It sparked interest in a couple men that have grown "weary of the battle." Pray that there will be more witnesses for Christ in Limavady through our ministry.

Since we can't get everyone into our church to hear the Gospel, we are working on getting the Gospel into every home here in Limavady and the surrounding villages. We have a couple personalized tracts for our area and for the religious environment we live in. Through these tracts we pray that they will spark an interest in the readers heart, mixed with the Spirit of God, and we will see more fruit this year with souls getting saved.
