Colossians
1:5-6
The Word of Truth of the Gospel.
If there is any truth in
this world at all it is found in the Word of God. Apart from God’s Word there are no certainties.
Paul made the correct statement in Romans 3:4…let God be true and every
man a liar…
How great it would be if everyone
recognized the Gospel as 100% truth.
How great it would be if everyone
recognized that no matter how right it seemed or no matter how much proof we
had, if it contradicted the Word of God it is false.
People have a lot of questions
concerning religion and truth. The
Bible has all the answers to any spiritual question. Men have added much to the belief system of their religions.
If the Bible doesn’t back up what they teach, what authority do they
have to persuade men to believe as they do?
It boils down to “The Truth.”
The truths you believe should
consistently line up with what the Bible teaches in every area of your Christian
life.
Where you get your information has
all to do with what you believe.
(The
little girl serving her daddy tea. The
mother sees how he is pleased with his daughter bringing him water, “make
believe tea,” until he discovers where the little girl is getting the water.
From the toilet.)
It may be well intentioned, it may
be quit pleasing, but it may be all wrong.
We talk about the Gospel a lot.
Tonight we want to look at some truths about the Gospel straight from
God’s Word.
The Truth of the Gospel is:
1.
It is a Personal Experience.
(v.6...which is come unto you)
The Gospel is not just for our
information, it is for our transformation.
We are not turning over a new leaf, or determining to do better.
We have a new purpose, a new attitude, a new behavior pattern.
Salvation is a changed life.
2 Cor. 5:17;
2.
It is a Universal Experience. (v.6…as
it is in all the world.)
Salvation has the same effect on
everyone it touches. Throughout the
ages, e.g. Zacheus, Woman at the
Well, Cornelius, Carl Woodbury,
Nathan Kinoshita, Glen Moales, Me, You…
3.
It is a Fruitful Experience. (v.
6…and bringeth forth fruit)
How can the True Gospel bring
forth bitterness? A judgmental
attitude? How can it bring forth
ungodliness?
The fruit is: Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, temperance,
(v.4; 8; 10; 11)
I don’t know about all these
people that claim to be Christian but have no joy in their life.
I
see people with a smile on their face for Christ and a good word to say that
don’t exactly line up with the mainstream religious crowd and I have to
wonder?
Reminds me of the Tator Family.
Has the Gospel became a truth in your life.
(v.12-14)
Give God praise tonight.
