Isaiah ch.1 The Overall Situation with the Followers of God.
The Old Testament is loaded with stories and situations
that we are to apply to our life.
For instance: David and Golieth; Daniel and the Lions Den; Gedion;…
One of the biggest pictures is the nation of Israel.
Israel is God’s timepiece for the last days.
Sadly it is a mirror that reflects the church.
Coming to God, straying from God, coming to God, straying from God, etc…
(Ezra)
God has never been without a voice.
He used prophets in the Old Testament and preachers in the New.
Prophet foretold, a preacher forth-tells.
Heb. 1:1-2 We have God’s Word
to share with us everything we need to know.
Isaiah is a book divided into two sections.
It is like a little Bible. 39
chapters on God’s judgment and 27 on a deliverer.
Old Testament is law, New Testament is grace.
Rom.8:3 For what the law could not do…
Isaiah had two main messages as stated:
(1) God’s people were to turn from sin and turn to the Lord and follow
His ways.
(2) We are to anticipate a coming Messiah, the return of Christ.
They looked for a physical redeemer and got a spiritual one.
We look for the physical redemption of the believers.
Isaiah’s message was not well received. You can lift up ungodliness and live for the devil and be praised. If you stand for God you are labeled, laughed at, and lied about, but praise God your right.
Looking at this chapter, v.2 sums up the basic theme. Follow with me.
v. 3) People have turned so far from God
v.4-6) This is hitting the ground running. No fear in this man.
v.7-8) Our land is in a godless state.
v.9-10) There has always been a remnant, and there will always be a remnant.
v.11-15) Religion does not impress God.
v.16-17) God wants us to want to do right.
v.18-19) He offers forgiveness, freedom, and fellowship.
v.20) If you continue in sin you will pay.
v.21-23) Our life is easily influenced by wickedness.
v.24-26) God’s desire is restoration.
v.27-31) There are those who will not turn to God or turn back to God. There judgment is sure.
What about
you?
Do you see where you have fallen?
Will you turn to God?
Will you ask to be cleansed?
As we live in this world for Jesus,
we are a remnant. We are a light in
a darkened world.
