2 Timothy 2:19   I’ll Serve God in Spite of the World.

Many religions revolve around service, sacrifice, sincerity, etc …
Our “religion” involves all of these but not for the soul basis of assurance as others do.
We have been blessed to know truth above all other truth for we believe the truth of Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible, and base our total confidence on Salvation through Jesus and Jesus alone.

And yet we live in a world that is contrary to our belief.  We walk among others who name Christ who are so far separated from true doctrine and true salvation.  Close, but still counterfeit.
The blade has brought forth the fruit and we can tell the difference.  They are part of the world

I’ll Serve God in Spite of the World.

v.1) Salvation through Grace, unmerited favor.
v.2) Our salvation leads us to Witness to others.
v.3) We learn and understand our battle, our warfare in this salvation, is not for heaven’s goal, but for earthly good.
v.4) Oh, that we would learn of the simple life Christ intended us to live.
v.5) Speaks of integrity, honesty, etc…
v.6) Rewards come after labor, always.
v.7) Think about what I am saying, give some deep thought to the issue.
v.8) Again, “Salvation in Christ, the Gospel
v.9) Again, serving God is not the most popular choice, never was, never will be until the end.  Eternity is a long time to be wrong. (v. 10-13)
v. 14) Watch out for the words of men…
v. 15) Give much heed to the Word of God.
v. 16-18) It is not our words. Men’s words will not help, but hurt.  Paul gave examples of men who caused trouble with their own words.  What would he say today?

Nevertheless…, In spite of all that.  e.g.…”it rained, but we went walking anyway.”
People mocked, scorned, doubted, fail by the wayside, and troubled us on every side, but we continued to serve Jesus.

I’ll Serve God in Spite of the World

I.
Our Foundation is Permanent / Perpetual
1 Cor. 3:11; John 1:3 Jesus is the foundation.
He is the foundation of the Godhead.
It is because of Him.  He came to dwell among us, Emmanuel,
The Word will not pass away, neither will His name.
If He never came, died, and rose again, we would have no hope.

A name to 1. Believe In.  Around the world in all cultures in all ages.
A name to 2. Brag On
A name to 3. Build On

II.  Our Fellowship is Personal
Difference between profession and testimony… This is the seal, the assurance, the guarantee.
Jesus said, Mat 7…”I never knew you…”

He is able to pick us out, amen.  He’ll never leave nor forsake us.

III. Our Fondness is Purity
  1 John 3:3; Titus 2:11-12; 1Peter 1:16
If you have no desire to be clean, you may not have the Holy Spirit living inside of you.
If you can feel comfortable in ungodliness, you may not have the Spirit of righteousness in your life.

There is a great assurance in our heart when these three attributes are present in our life; We know that we know Jesus, we have a personal relationship with the Lord, and we have a great desire in our heart to live holy for Him.

Do you know Jesus?  Does He know you?  Do you have a desire to live Holy?
